Learning Log #7

 Week 7

What a week! We left for the east coast on Friday and got to go to the ECU game! The boys did such a great job reppin the Y that they ended up on ESPN and The Cut! And BYU won!!!

Then we went up to VA to spend some time with my sister and her kids. She is learning about photography and asked if she could practice on us, so she got some super cute pictures. And Daniel found so many creatures! The road was by far his favorite though.

We came home for one day and Daniel got to go to Yates Place where he started to learn about the periodic table of the elements, got assigned a math group and started working on fractions, did PE, and language arts. He’s loving it there! He was also able to make it to his play practice which was awesome because the next day we went down to Vegas and met up with his grandparents to see The Wizard of Oz at The Sphere! Daniel is going to be a flying monkey in his production so he thought this was super fun!

It’s amazing how much fun we can have while still learning!!!

Learning Log #1-2

  The First Two Weeks! We are enjoying 6th grade so far! We are using Mia Academy as our main curriculum. This week we did quick reviews in place value and adding and subtracting in math. We are enjoying Mia's Language Arts, especially Reading Comprehension. It's fun to read snippets of so many books! In September we will start going to a co-op two days a week (most likely). They will supplement what Daniel is learning in math and LA and they will also cover chemistry and social studies - ancient civilizations this year. So that will be fun! This week we received our ants for our ant farm and they are currently in the dark, and we are hoping they are tunneling away! Daniel is still in gymnastics but he goes twice a week now and is in the advanced gymnastics class. He is also still taking piano, but we are really missing his group class! Learning log # 12

  Week 12 Always with the uploading in the wrong order!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Sorry about that! But, this week was full of fun and creating and traditions and we even squeezed schoolwork in there too! Hanging out in the “Hermes cabin” Collectively we are Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief! Daniel as Percy, Brian as Poseidon, and me (always the ridiculous thing) as a lightning bolt.  A neighbor friend was Annabeth! Creating the cabin and the ambiance  Finished Jack o lanterns Using his beloved pocket knife to carve his pumpkin  His finished pumpkin pizza! Cutting the pumpkin shape out in the pizza dough The black cat always brings donuts on Halloween morning! He made a bomb squad uniform out of cardboard and tape - he never ceases to amaze me! Daniel and Brian handmade my lightning bolt costume! We got enough snow for Daniel to create our family in snowmen! Learning Log #16 - 17

  Weeks 16-17 Part of cleaning out his room was getting rid of this! And organizing all his Legos downstairs! Loving his clean room because he can build in there! Thanksgiving fun! He made quite the turkey this year Watching Journey to Bethlehem! We spotted Uncle John in the Macy’s parade!! Rearranging our couches for Christmas  The tree is up! Our BYU Christmas house! Last Cougartail of the season! Tyler’s last home game! 😭 We love him! Decorating the tree and putting up Angie, our Christmas tree angel How many people does it take?? Kiwi advent!!! Santa’s workshop Elves! Tool bench! Advent puzzle! Candle spinner - it was cool to learn about why the lighted candles make the propeller spin Making a tiny little rocking horse for Santa’s workshop I promise that we did our math lessons and our language art lessons and read Hatchet and practice piano and all of the school things! I just didn’t take pictures of that, lol.
