Week 6
| Daniel found another monarch caterpillar while at the park with friends this week! |
| He brought it home and put it in the same habitat as the other chrysalis. He also ran to the creek to get some milkweed for it - twice! Cause that caterpillar was very hungry!! |
| Daniel found a crawdad at our creek and was worried enough about it that he wanted to keep it in the homeschool room with us while he worked. |
| This is the second crawdad Daniel has found at our creek this week! Third overall. I didn't even know our creek had crawdads!! |
| The new caterpillar moved to the top of the container and is starting to form his chrysalis! |
| And here he is! Amazing. |
| We've been taking a lot of walks lately - loving the fall weather! |
| Family game night - this one is Race to the Treasure. I love watching Daniel figure out where all the pieces go on the grid. |
Daniel had a great week! In math he is reviewing division and also learning about charts and graphs while working on his multiplication and division facts. In language arts, he is loving Night Zookeeper! It works really well with his creative personality. And I love that he enjoys the games and gets to work on his spelling that way. In social studies he has been learning about the indigenous people of North and South America, which is awesome since we're planning a trip to South America in the spring! Clearly science comes naturally to him, so we decided we didn't need to put a focus on it this year, although he is still working on the 4th grade science curriculum in Time 4 Learning, which has him learning to "think like a scientist" right now. Technology and entrepreneurship come really easily to him as well. My husband owns his own company and works for himself so he gives Daniel a lot of learning opportunities, in addition to money-making opportunities, which is great! He has a creative personality, just like Daniel, so when Daniel says "I have an idea!", Dad is right there to help him bring it to life. They are perfectly suited to one another! And Daniel is excelling in piano and enjoying it more than I anticipated, which makes me sooo happy! I love to hear him playing and singing. He took over the piano at church yesterday once the block was over, so I knew right where to find him because I could hear his songs, lol!
All in all, this year is going really well and I am grateful that My Tech High has given us the ability to add more to his learning experience this year.
Daniel's highlights!
