Learning Log #21

Learning Log #21 Daniel turned 12 this week!! Crazy pants. He had a great birthday. He recreated his first birthday cake and had a blast doing it. Then he hung out with friends at The Rush and rode go carts and bumper cars, played mini golf and went bowing, climbed the rock wall and hung out in the foam pit, then surprised his friends with his giant cupcake! He had a great week learning at Yates Place too.  And he had his winter showcase for his advanced gymnastics class! He has learned so much and I’m so impressed with the progress he’s made.

Learning Log #20 This was a tough week. Daniel has been having some anxiety problems at night and there has been very little sleep in our house. But he made it to Yates Place and was able to cover all of his required subjects there. Thank goodness for Yates Place! One of my favorite things that has been happening since he started there is that he’s started spelling words as he speaks. He said something about sitting on the couch the other day and followed it up with “C O U C H - couch”  ðŸ˜‚❤️

Learning log 19 This week was a rerun to Yates Place and plan practice and gymnastics plus a first youth group activity! We also built a robot (Jimu) who can be controlled with a phone app.  Daniel has chosen a K9 or animal control officer as the subject for his career report so we’re going to set up an appointment! He started a new extra curricular at Yates Place too - Warrior’s Way replaced cooking, which he is a little sad about but I think he will enjoy.  He also spent some time recreating old pictures with his friend, Olivia! How adorable are they? He has a gymnastics showcase on the 24th - that should be fun!  I love watching him learn and grow. It’s the best part of homeschooling.

Welcome back check-in

Christmas break! What an awesome Christmas break. Santa was very good to Daniel this year! An e-bike and an electric guitar made this Christmas a peak year for Santa - it’s never going to be better than that! Daniel also bought gifts for mom and dad. He bought Dad a domino rally set and he bought me lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant! But my birthday is also very close to Christmas so it was a joint gift. So sweet! We won the BYU Pop-Tart Bowl game! Daniel got a lot of work done and came home with a bunch of boxes that he and Olivia got very creative with. And we rang in the New Year with friends and Daniel shot off a Roman candle to celebrate! On my birthday, Daniel took me to the restaurant and surprised me with the best birthday gift ever!!! He arranged and paid for the taxes on a plane ticket for my sister from Virginia! And she was waiting for me inside a wrapped box in the restaurant’s lobby! Plus he paid for my meal with cash and got to do a little math as he tipped o...
