Learning Log 36

 Learning Log 36 Daniel had his last week of Yates Place! He received a year book and got to party with all his Yates Place friends at the park in an event put on by his teachers and the high school students. That was fun! But the best part of this week was getting to do two of his career exploration project interviews! He got to speak with Dr. Alison Whiting who is the curator of herpetology at BYU's Bean Life Museum. That was soooo cool! We got to see the specimen rooms and the DNA lab and she was so kind and helpful.  We also got to speak with Officer Stephanie Whitehead who is our animal control officer here in Payson. She was also very gracious and gave us a lot of really good information about what it takes to be in animal control. We have two more interviews lined up. We will meet with the Sargent over the K9 unit here in Payson today and we will be meeting with the assistant director of freshwater husbandry at the Loveland Living Aquarium on Thursday! Learning Log 35

 Learning Log # 35 This week we did Yates Place, where Daniel was featured as one of the students of the week, which was fun! They are wrapping up the year with some fun final projects. It sounds like their Olympic games will happen next week on the final day of school, which is actually just a party at the park! We cleaned out Patch's tank this week and he was VERY happy about that! We also celebrated Birth Mother's Day as well as Mother's Day. I took Mimi out to lunch and made sure to get pictures of her snake for Daniel! Daniel taught the lesson in his church class on Sunday and got to teach about Moses and the fiery serpents from the Old Testament, which was crazy perfect for him, lol! He brought in a large bag of toy snakes and hid them all over the room. He said his lesson went well! We also made cheesecake for Mother's Day and I enjoyed my giant, homemade card! Plus lots of snuggles. Grateful to be this boy's mom!

Learning Log 34

  Learning Log #34 This week was a fun one! Yates Place, shooting range, LEGO flowers, cookies in the park, making money, exploring at the creek, and generally enjoying the weather before it gets too hot. We are gearing up for our end of the year project and only have two weeks left of Yates Place! It’s hard to believe that it’s already May  ðŸ¤¯

Learning Log 33

 Learning Log #33 This week we did Yates Place and gymnastics and a lot of straightening up in our basement. But the highlight of the week was going to the Planetarium! We had never been before and we had a blast! There are so many fun hands-on activities to do. Plus we went with 2 friends from Yates Place so that made it extra fun. And we got to see "The Birth of Planet Earth" in the dome theater and that was super cool! I think our favorite activities were creating planets with life and then blowing up the entire universe with a giant black hole, and "programing" robots to drive around on a surface that is similar to Jupiter' moon, Io. We will definitely go again sometime! We also went to the pet store to get new substrate for Patch so we can clean out his tank (we do that twice a year, even though we spot clean it after ever feeding). But we saw these geckos and just had to take a picture of them, lol! And Olivia's black eye is all healed up, but mine is ...

Learning Log 31 & 32

Learning Log 31 & 32 Such a fun few weeks! We went to Galveston and boarded a ship with our favorite family members! We went to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico and Roatan, Honduras. We played with monkeys and iguanas in Roatan, and interacted with dolphins in Cozumel! We didn't get pictures of the dolphins because they wouldn't allow us to take our own pictures and they wanted to sell us their pictures for a ridiculous amount of money (seriously, like $500!!). But we have amazing memories! We got to hold the dolphin and feel her heartbeat, dance with her, get kissed by her, hold her fins, and pet her. Then we got to go snorkeling and it was beautiful there! Plus they fed us some very authentic and yummy Mexican food. On the ship we got to see shows, ice skate, zip line, rock climb, flow ride, ride slides (I even got a giant bump on my head that resulted in a black eye that I still have today!!), swim, and eat so so much ice cream.
