Week 15 This week was full of Yates Place fun, the BYU paleontology museum, football games, fall leaves, and beginning to decorate for Christmas! We ended up helping yo serve the treat at the Cougar Club tent at BYU on game day because they only had two people working and that was not working out well for them, lol. When we asked Daniel after the game was over (and we had won!) what his favorite part of the night was, he said it was serving cake. So that’s a win for sure!! Daniel is still loving Yates Place. He made diced potatoes and German pancakes in his cooking class this week, is still multiplying and dividing with fractions, still reading A Wizard of Earthsea, is learning about compounds in chemistry, and is going over some grammar concepts in language arts. He is still loving gymnastics, and his rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz are coming along too. We also saw both parts of Wicked in the theater this week so that was fun! His piano teacher is moving so he had his last lesson wit...

Week 14 Crazy warm weather for November this week! We did a lot of outside things just to soak it up. Daniel built a pond to attract salamanders in our backyard, complete with waterfall! He built his latest Crunch Lab which was all about light refraction. We ended up at a BYU basketball game at the last minute and it was a blast! We raked up sooo many leaves in our front yard and it still looks like we didn’t rake anything at all because so many more fell after all the wind! Daniel told me I had so many leaves in my hair that I looked like Caesar and it made my heart so happy to hear him talk about something I hadn’t taught him - we are loving Yates Place! He made cream puffs in his cooking class and he’s a huge fan.

Week 13 Halloween was so much fun! Daniel and Brian were FBI/MIB agents and I was an alien - I’m always the ridiculous thing. The UFO that Brian and Daniel built in our yard was amazing! I love their creativity and the fun they have building together. Daniel had some kind of stomach bug but he was able to get over it quickly so he could enjoy the holiday. We got Brian off to his conference the very next day! Daniel spent the week getting caught up on his go-cart goal, working with dividing fractions, starting A Wizard of Earthsea at Yates Place and A Wrinkle in Time here at home. He built a very cool LEGO car that he is planning to add motors to. We played with dry ice and added dish soap to it. And Daniel got to break a board! He learned that the key to breaking the board is to aim beyond it. It’s a good lesson in goal setting for sure. Brian’s conference went well and it’s nice to have him home! He brought our friend from Australia with him to get some work done and it’s been n...

Week 12 Another week short on pictures. And Daniel had a stomach bug this week too. But between our work at home and Yates Place, we were able to get work done in all of our subjects! Plus we did a lot to help Brian get ready for his annual conference. A win-win week!
