Week 7 We started a science unit on echinoderms! It will culminate in dissecting a sea star! Utah raptor! Torvosaurus! BYU dinosaur museum! Allosaurus used to be Daniel’s favorite dinosaur.  We met Sargent Eccles at the BYU ROTC building. He had a backpack for Daniel and gave us an overview of what the national guard is like! He bought a new coloring book and the weekly mystery item - a fun drawing board! First store day of the school year! Daniel also passed off his first song in piano and he’s making really great progress!

Week 6 This week I didn’t take as many pictures as I meant to! But we did a deep dive into Nessy and even did a dyslexia screening: I’m not sure if we need additional screening or not but we’ll ask his pediatrician in October.  We also are redoing Time4Math Facts with multiplication and division just to keep those nice and solid and we’re going to see how quickly he can get to 100% this time around.  We got our first Crunch Lab box and we watched Mark’s video and learned all about flywheels! Daniel is loving the disc launcher he built! And he got a new uniform - it was going to be a costume for Halloween but since we’re super loving Percy Jackson (we finished the third book last night!), we might do that instead so out came the army costume!

Week #5! We finished off our trip to the Midwest by attending a BYU football game! Daniel cheered and made it on to ESPN!! When we got home, we found the largest cucumbers we had ever seen waiting for us in our garden! Plus a few of Daniel’s ambrosia melons were ripe, too (basically cantaloupes)! We started our new Language Arts program, Nessy, and ate salmon while dad was out of town. Turns out Daniel loves salmon and Nessy! Daniel continues to excel in piano. And he found out that he’s in the children’s choir in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat this year. Plus, he is loving gymnastics! We love homeschool!!

Week #4 This week started with BYU’s opening game!! Daniel caught a football and we got on the Jumbotron - it’s gonna be a great season!! Then we flew out to the Midwest and got to hang out in Texas and Oklahoma. Daniel learned about his ancestry from his Nana, caught turtles with his Granddaddy, saw all of his dad’s old haunts, learned about the Native Americans and even got to see a herd of buffalo! We love homeschooling!!!
