Learning Log 31 & 32
Such a fun few weeks! We went to Galveston and boarded a ship with our favorite family members! We went to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico and Roatan, Honduras. We played with monkeys and iguanas in Roatan, and interacted with dolphins in Cozumel! We didn't get pictures of the dolphins because they wouldn't allow us to take our own pictures and they wanted to sell us their pictures for a ridiculous amount of money (seriously, like $500!!). But we have amazing memories! We got to hold the dolphin and feel her heartbeat, dance with her, get kissed by her, hold her fins, and pet her. Then we got to go snorkeling and it was beautiful there! Plus they fed us some very authentic and yummy Mexican food.
On the ship we got to see shows, ice skate, zip line, rock climb, flow ride, ride slides (I even got a giant bump on my head that resulted in a black eye that I still have today!!), swim, and eat so so much ice cream. We got to tour the ship's kitchen and we marveled at how much food they prepare! Everyone on board was so nice and very helpful. They even had an egg drop contest and Daniel and his cousins entered! They had a very simple design where they cradled the egg in a foam football (once they realized that the donut contraption they had been working on during breakfast wouldn't be allowed, lol). The announcer didn't think it would work, but it protected the egg!!! They were so proud. We had the best week ever!
When we got back, it was officially spring break! We did an Easter and General Conference redo weekend. The Easter Bunny came and we hid eggs and made our empty tomb rolls. Olivia joined us for most of it, after she fell off a scooter and got her own black eye! Crazy pants. The week was full of chilling with friends, playing night games, and doing gymnastics. It was awesome!
Then we went back to school, which meant back to Yate's Place! Daniel is starting his last unit in ancient civilizations about being a good citizen. He said they are still working on fractions in math there, but he's having a great time. And he's still reading A Wizard of Earthsea, too. He loves it there and loves helping run the school store on Fridays. At home Daniel has been working in our yard and basement, finding snakes, building more Crunch Lab projects, watching Mark Rober explain how to fool a self-driving car, and lots of other random things. He had an activity at church about gun safety and it was almost the best day of his life! A friend got his mission call to the Ivory Coast, which was crazy pants, too! And Olivia gave Daniel a hair cut - her first hair cut ever, lol! She rocked it. And the snow was crazy pants, but also fun. Sad for all the farmers whose crops were ruined, sad for us who won't get to eat it, happy for the mountain snowpack which we needed.
