Learning Log #4

 Week 4

This was a super fun week! Daniel and his Aunt Bonnie took full advantage of the gorgeous weather this weekend and spent the day outside exploring at Spring Lake and then they got to go to the Onion Days carnival! The next day was our first BYU football home game of the 2025 season - woohoo! That was a blast and we are so glad we got to have Aunt Bonnie and Olivia with us!

Aunt Bonnie went home on Sunday (boo!) and we enjoyed our extra day on this long weekend. We watched a movie, rested, and Daniel went swimming with his Dad. A perfect end to summer!

This week Daniel has been rocking Mia Academy with his reading comprehension, language arts, and math. It's been fun to watch him engage with this curriculum. He got to start his Survivor's Quest unit and he's been loving that!

We also went to Yate's Place's open house and got officially registered so Daniel will start there on Wednesday! He'll get to study ancient civilizations and chemistry there, in addition to math, language arts, and a couple of electives that he will pick. He's on the Wednesday/Friday track and one of his best friends will be there too, so it's a total win! He's excited and so are we.


Oh, and I guess I should explain the helicopter! On Saturday morning, a helicopter flew really low over our house and landed in the church parking lot across the street! An older couple go out and walked over to the temple. LOL! The neighborhood kids were so obsessed! And they got a bunch of chalk and drew a landing pad for them then they waited for them to come back and got to watch them take off! It was pretty crazy pants.

Learning Log #1-2

  The First Two Weeks! We are enjoying 6th grade so far! We are using Mia Academy as our main curriculum. This week we did quick reviews in place value and adding and subtracting in math. We are enjoying Mia's Language Arts, especially Reading Comprehension. It's fun to read snippets of so many books! In September we will start going to a co-op two days a week (most likely). They will supplement what Daniel is learning in math and LA and they will also cover chemistry and social studies - ancient civilizations this year. So that will be fun! This week we received our ants for our ant farm and they are currently in the dark, and we are hoping they are tunneling away! Daniel is still in gymnastics but he goes twice a week now and is in the advanced gymnastics class. He is also still taking piano, but we are really missing his group class! Learning Log #6

Week 6 Daniel found another monarch caterpillar while at the park with friends this week!   He brought it home and put it in the same habitat as the other chrysalis. He also ran to the creek to get some milkweed for it - twice! Cause that caterpillar was very hungry!! Daniel found a crawdad at our creek and was worried enough about it that he wanted to keep it in the homeschool room with us while he worked. I love watching him rehearse for his play! He's doing so great. Daniel had an idea to create a light-weight wagon so he could pull things while he rode his bike, It worked! He was very excited about that. This is the second crawdad Daniel has found at our creek this week! Third overall. I didn't even know our creek had crawdads!! The new caterpillar moved to the top of the container and is starting to form his chrysalis! And here he is! Amazing. We've been taking a lot of walks lately - loving the fall weather! Learning Log #5

  Week 5 This was a super fun week! Daniel got to go on a camp out with his dad. They made foil dinners and cooked them in the fire and roasted marshmallows and fruit, lol, because Daniel loves his fruit! There wasn’t much sleep that night but we still went to the BYU football game the  next day! It was a late one but we won!! The school week was filled with reading comprehension, learning arts, and math. Plus, Daniel started his first week at Yate’s Place! He’s loving it so far. One of his best friends also goes to Yate’s Place and they love that they get to go together!
