Learning Log # 7

 

Week 7


The butterfly emerged from her chrysalis!!

Daniel was very gentle with her and so happy to hold her!

This is when she flew away!

After school, Daniel got to shop at our homeschool store and he had saved enough to buy this Jurassic Park Lego kit plus the mystery item!

He added the police lights to it and it didn’t take him long at all to finish the kit!

A former police officer friend came over to add to Daniel’s challenge coin collection! He was pretty thrilled. 

For part of piano practice this week, Daniel got to play upside down! It helps him play without looking at his hands and he thought it was so cool. 

We got to put another Tinker Crate together this week!

This one was a “glowing pendulum”, which was actually a double pendulum which made some really cool designs!

Just one of the fun designs - never the same twice!

We got to take a little friend to the creek with us and Daniel caught some fish for him! We released them back into the creek shortly after but I’m always amazed with the creatures he finds there!

Another BYU game and a win! Plus silly faces. 

This was the mystery item! Daniel had to dig through plaster and slime to find the pieces of this dinosaur then put them together. It even roars!

And we had General Conference this weekend where we got to snuggle together and listen to our church leaders speak to us from our home. We have some fun traditions for this weekend every year and it’s always our favorite Sunday! Here Daniel is proudly displaying his “healthy” plate and his “sugar” plate, lol.

Oh! Also, we saw that Mrs. Robison has asked a few questions in her comments on our learning logs! So Daniel wanted her to know that he'd rather have a personal robot, that his favorite color is neon green, and that he thinks the answer to the riddle is corn! :)

Learning Log #1-2

  The First Two Weeks! We are enjoying 6th grade so far! We are using Mia Academy as our main curriculum. This week we did quick reviews in place value and adding and subtracting in math. We are enjoying Mia's Language Arts, especially Reading Comprehension. It's fun to read snippets of so many books! In September we will start going to a co-op two days a week (most likely). They will supplement what Daniel is learning in math and LA and they will also cover chemistry and social studies - ancient civilizations this year. So that will be fun! This week we received our ants for our ant farm and they are currently in the dark, and we are hoping they are tunneling away! Daniel is still in gymnastics but he goes twice a week now and is in the advanced gymnastics class. He is also still taking piano, but we are really missing his group class! Learning Log #6

Week 6 Daniel found another monarch caterpillar while at the park with friends this week!   He brought it home and put it in the same habitat as the other chrysalis. He also ran to the creek to get some milkweed for it - twice! Cause that caterpillar was very hungry!! Daniel found a crawdad at our creek and was worried enough about it that he wanted to keep it in the homeschool room with us while he worked. I love watching him rehearse for his play! He's doing so great. Daniel had an idea to create a light-weight wagon so he could pull things while he rode his bike, It worked! He was very excited about that. This is the second crawdad Daniel has found at our creek this week! Third overall. I didn't even know our creek had crawdads!! The new caterpillar moved to the top of the container and is starting to form his chrysalis! And here he is! Amazing. We've been taking a lot of walks lately - loving the fall weather! Learning Log #5

  Week 5 This was a super fun week! Daniel got to go on a camp out with his dad. They made foil dinners and cooked them in the fire and roasted marshmallows and fruit, lol, because Daniel loves his fruit! There wasn’t much sleep that night but we still went to the BYU football game the  next day! It was a late one but we won!! The school week was filled with reading comprehension, learning arts, and math. Plus, Daniel started his first week at Yate’s Place! He’s loving it so far. One of his best friends also goes to Yate’s Place and they love that they get to go together!
